It is a common misconception that the battery provides all the power needed for the car to run. The truth is a battery only gives the engine the necessary energy to jumpstart the car but the main source of energy comes from the fuel. The connection between the fuel tank and the battery is the alternator. Hence, the alternator plays an important role in converting the fuel into electrical energy and generating alternating current, which is then used to keep the car running.Today’s cars are more fuel-efficient but have higher electrical requirements. That is why some alternators, such as the Hitachi alternator, have been designed to accommodate higher electrical loads. Engines have far evolved from the engines of yesteryears and provide a smoother ride. The cars of today make use of computerized technology as well.
